Three Plus Size Pieces to Covet for Summer 2017

The weather is changing and it feels like summer is finally about to arrive, but your wardrobe just isn’t ready. Sound familiar? You’re not alone! Most women struggle to transition their wardrobe from season to season, and keeping up with the latest trends can often feel like hard work. The good news is, we’ve just done the hard work for you:  If you’re looking for an excuse to do some shopping then you just found it! Here are the three pieces that every plus size woman should add to her wardrobe this season:

The Floral Wrap Dress

It may not be innovative, but florals are always popular for spring/summer and this year is certainly no exception. Add a modern and fashion-forward focus to your favourite floral print by opting for a floral wrap dress. Wearing florals from head to toe was a bold look seen on the catwalk at Chloe, Erdem and Dries Van Noten, and the best way to achieve a low-key and easy to put together head to toe floral look is with a wrap dress. Plus size dresses are figure flattering, easy to wear, and look great for any occasion. Simply add a pair of heeled sliders and a contrasting floral clutch or handbag in vibrant high saturation colours and you’re ready to hit the town!

The Striped Tunic

Statement stripes were a huge catwalk trend for 2017, seen at Mulberry, Pringle and Proenza Schouler. The best way to tap into this trend is to invest in a vertical striped tunic in bold boating-inspired colours. Think white, buff and baby blue. Graphic and chunky, the good news for plus sized fashionistas is that vertical stripes not only look fantastic, they are also incredibly slimming and figure flattering. The best thing about adding a striped tunic to your wardrobe is how versatile it is: throw it on with your favourite jeans for an easy to wear casual look, or add to a pencil skirt for a fashion-forward office feel.

The Bardot Rib Dress

Dresses that fall off the shoulder are incredibly popular this season, and the Bardot style has quickly become this season’s hottest neckline, thanks to its frequent appearances on the Balenciaga catwalk. If you want to tap into this trend and showcase your curves then choose a ribbed Bardot dress: not only will this show off slender shoulders it will also hug your body in all the right places. These dresses look great bold – and pillar box red is a fantastic place to start!
